A NEW STANDBY GENERATOR FOR DP WORLD FACILITY IN EAST AFRICA

DP World in East Africa required a new generator at their new Container Terminal Project to ensure the standby power provided is sufficient to support all operations of the new facility.

THE CHALLENGE:
The new generator is required to be located outdoors between two buildings in a confined space. Because of the restrictions, a generator with a Containerized Weatherproof enclosure with a sound level of less than 80dB’s at a one-meter distance to ensure no disturbance to the people working inside the building and a fuel storage capacity of 72 hours for continuous operation.  The generator has to be installed near two buildings and fuel storage was a big hazard to a place near generator and buildings.

THE SOLUTION:

After a site visit by our Technical Manager, Adpower proposed a PM1250 Standby Adpower Generator complete with 40feet Containerized Enclosure with a sound level of less than 80dBs at 01-meter distance and complete fuel system comprising of a 2500 liter built -in Fuel Tank and a 10,000 liters vertical type External Fuel Tank to ensure a continuous fuel supply of more than 72 hours of operation.
 Fuel System Design

The containerized enclosure that houses the new generator is robust and highly resistant to corrosion. In addition to providing excellent outdoor performance, the enclosure also provides good access for maintenance through four large side doors.
To reduce the sound level, a total of four attenuators are being used to ensure a better sound level and sufficient air intake area. The container design is fully complying with a 40feet Container shipping standards.
40feet Container design to achieve less than 80dB Sound level
Adpower’s PM1250 is Powered by Perkins 4008 Series Engine and Leroy Somer LSA Series Alternator with a Deepsea Control Panel. The arrangement is designed to perform in harsh environments and high altitudes after considering the derating factors.

The supplied generator is ideal for this project. Not only does it perform well, but the unit is robust and durable.
